Sam Joseph

Professor Emeritus, Applied Environmental Health (MIAEH)

Sam Joseph is the former Professor and Chair for the Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics (Microbiology) at the University of Maryland. He was an adjunct professor at the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at UMB, as well as former Director of the Infectious Diseases Program for the Naval Medical Research and Development Command, National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.

Joseph has more than 120 refereed publications and 15 books and chapters. He is a member of Sigma Xi, as well as an elected fellow for the American Academy of Microbiology. He was also a fellow for the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Joseph has extensive contract and grant work with FDA, Naval Medical Research and Development Command.
